The Bacalar Rapids is a beautiful place 30 km north of the city of Chetumal on the Chetumal-Cancun highway, and just over 13 km south of the town of Bacalar.

This wonderful spa-restaurant is known as "The Bacalar Rapids" because it is located right in the channel that divides the Bacalar lagoon with the Xul-Ha lagoon, this division and the constant flow of water between both lagoons creates a strong current, in the purest style of a river, which can become quite strong depending on the season.
